Yotes Court in the act

Updated: Dec 1, 2022

Sometimes you can mix business with pleasure! Over the last 18 months I've been lucky enough to film repeatedly at Yotes Court Vinyard, which really is an exceptional place. Firstly the location is beautiful, nestling on the slopes of the North Downs in Kent at Mereworth near Maidstone. The combination of soils and aspect and elevation are all ideal for grape growing, and despite only having been planted a few years ago is already producing some truly good wine.

But more importantly, the philosophy of the place is great. Owner Susannah Ricci was keen when setting it up that the vinyard should have the least impact on the environment possible, and in fact Yotes is one of the founding members of Sustainable Wines of Great Britain. That means minimal use of pesticides and sprays, allowing all sorts of plants to grow and thrive between the vines, and actively encouraging real biodiversity.

This film was commissioned to be shown as part of the vinyard tour, to give a bit on insight to guests as to the complexity of the processes involved - and to whet their appetite for trying a glass or two. I can recommend all of them, but especially like the Rose.
